Derbyshire - 16th June 2026

An awesome walk yesterday in the Peak District, part of the Derbyshire days series. Massive thanks to Chris and his partner in crime Tess, for organising and leading the walk. We met up at the Parsley Hay visitors centre and did a circular walk, on the Tissington Trail.

Morning coffee (with homemade flapjacks), lunch in Longnor then back to Pasley Hay in time for coffee/ice-cream before the cafe closed! You set a new bar Chris!!!

Cotswolds - 14th June 2026

Our walk today started from the beautiful Oxfordshire village of Sibford Gower on a lovely sunny day.

nine of us set off on the 15 mile undulating route, with the 1600 feet of ascent giving us spectacular views.

We passed through several, quaint Cotswolds villages, stopping at Lower Brailes for coffee (accompanied by church bells) and The Pear Tree Inn in Hook Norton for lunch, where beers from the local brewery were much enjoyed.

On returning to Sibford Gower, there was an Open Gardens event, so some of the group popped into the village hall for tea and delicious cake.

Three Courses - 12th June 2026

Derek served up three courses today, three golf courses! We crossed the Northampton club course at Harlestone, then the Brampton Heath course where we stopped for lunch in the clubhouse and then the Northamptonshire course in the afternoon. We started and finished in Harlestone Firs and enjoyed the lovely countryside between Holdenby and the Bramptons.
A superb walk.

Paulerspury - 5th June 2026

Today's walk from Paulerspury took us through the ancient royal hunting ground of Whittlewood Forest and utilised the permissive paths through the Wakefield Estate that are only open during May and June. Our lunchtime stop was at the ever popular Super Sausage at Potterspury.

The woodland and wild flowers were at their best in the sunshine.

Castleton - 19th May

Wow! What an incredible day out.  A group of 7 of us met up in Castleton, Derbyshire for an approximate 15 mile hike. The route took us from Castleton, via Win Hill and Hope Brink down into the vale of Edale where we stopped at a cafe for much needed break and refreshments. Unfortunately one of the group departed early due to preexisting injuries. It was then onwards along the valley and up Mam Tor, with the final climb up Lose Hill before returning to Castleton.

It was exhilarating and an amazing experience for us all. Much fun, laughter and comraderie, with some challenging hills, and just one short rain shower!  A massive shout out to Chris for coordinating and leading this walk.

Wellingborough - 15th May 2026

A fantastic 13.3 mile walk today led by Evelyn with a party of 15 in all. Some familiar faces sadly not with us! A day of laughter and comraderie and blessedly no rain! The route took us from Wellingborough along the Nene Way to Summer Leys Nature Reserve, stopping for welcome refreshments at Els Bakes in Wollaston, then on to Podington for a lunch break at the Garden Centre. After lunch (unfortunately Charles still didn't get his chips!) we went on to Irchester, walking through the Country Park to the end of our walk. Thanks everyone for such a successful day out. Special thanks of course to Evelyn.

St Cuthbert's Way Group 1

We completed the 62 mile St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to Holy Island over 5 days, then walked an extra day along the coast path to Berwick on Tweed.  The walk exceeded our expectations with a superb variety of scenery including riverside walking, woodland, upland, ruined abbeys and coast.  The weather was mostly kind with only one wet day.

We walked the Pilgrim's Path across the sand to Holy Island but some of the group couldn't wait for the tide to go right out and got a little wet!

Clipston - 1st may 2026

There was no 'shortage of shorts' for this walk.... 🩳

On one of the hottest days of the year so far, 19 of us set off on a fabulous 13+ mile route from the pretty village of Clipston, led by Clive.

We walked via Haselbach, Maidwell and Kelmash enjoying spectacular, far-reaching views from Haselbach Hill and an excellent lunch stop at The Stag, Maidwell.

The perfect start to a Bank Holiday Weekend! Thank you, Clive. 🌞
