Group Walks
On our programme page you will find a wide range of led walks from leisurely strolls of just a few miles up to more strenuous all day walks. These walks are usually in Northamptonshire or the adjoining counties.
New Walkers
New walkers are welcome to join three walks before becoming members of the Ramblers. Please make sure that you have suitable footwear and clothing for a countryside walk and bring sufficient food and drink to last for the duration of the walk. Most walks do not require booking (the walk details on the programme page will tell you if they do), just turn up at the start point in good time and introduce yourself to the walk leader. Please read our Guidance for Walkers and don't hesitate to contact the walk leader if you have any questions.
Walking Holidays
Ramblers Northampton usually organise several walking holidays each year which are open to all members of the Ramblers.
The holidays are usually based in hotel or bed & breakfast accommodation and include national trails such as the Coast to Coast walk, The Wye Valley Walk and Offa's Dyke, as well as short breaks at a single base with local led walks. Members can register to receive our monthly email News Update which will ensure that they are among the first to know about all our holidays and other events.
Members Area
As a member you can register and log in to the website so that you can view the Members' Area. Here you can see back issues of newsletters, information about upcoming events such as walking holidays out of area walks and meetings, contact details for committee members and information for walk leaders. Please note that the log in details are not the same as for the national website, you will have to register on this website before logging on for the first time.
About the Ramblers
Ramblers Northampton is part of the Ramblers, a national charity which aims to safeguard the rights of way network and encourage people to walk. Across the country we provide Britain's biggest range of led group walks and our members can join Ramblers walks anywhere in the country.
Protecting and developing the rights of way network is central to the Ramblers at both national and local level. Many people join Ramblers, even if they are not regular walkers, to support the work of the organisation. Each parish in Northamptonshire is assigned to a Footpath Secretary who monitors planning applications and path diversion orders and liaises with the council rights of way officers to help ensure that rights of way are maintained.
Over the last 60 years Ramblers have played a pivotal role in helping to secure the footpath network, helping to put rights of way on the map and championing long distance trails. You can find more information about the activities of the Ramblers on the national website.
