Access problems

Any problems should be reported to the County Council. Typical 'problems' are such as obstructed footpaths (by crops or locked gates), missing or damaged styles, or missing signposts at a road. For Northamptonshire, report these to:

Rights of Way,
Highway department,
MGWSP,
Old Harborough Road,
Brixworth,
NN6 9BX

Phone 01604 883400.

email jcosford@mgwsp.co.uk

It is useful to include footpath numbers when you report a problem. You can now find these on the Northamptonshire County Council website. This link will take you straight to the map.
For a guide to how to get the information , which will also take you straight to the map, but will give you a pop-up quide, so press Ctrl & Alt while you click the button so as to temporarily allow pop-ups, otherwise the guide window may be blocked by your browser. The NCC web page takes a few seconds to load, so don't panic.

Contact details for the rights of way officers in Northamptonshire can be found on the NCC website.
Unfortunately, for other counties there is no longer an index of Rights of Way Officers. The best I can offer is a link to an index of local councils to help you find out for yourself. (Of course, if you tell me, we could start our own index).

If you tell me what you have reported I will put it into the status report.

Finding who owns the land may be getting easier, because details are being progressively added to the land registry website. It costs £2 per access, and for some reason you cannot access it on Sundays.
