A romp round Rutland. Circular day walk of 15 miles. Car-share from CS at 08:00 or meet the leader at the 09:30 start from Lyddington Church SP 876969. Park considerately in village streets. Bring packed lunch but possible pub stop in Uppingham, where our own food is banned. A lovely walk in the rolling countryside of Rutland via Seaton, Uppingham, Belton and Stockerston. John Ledger.

Peak District walk of 13 miles. Takes in Chatsworth Park and Beeley village. Car-share from The Turnpike, Harpole Turn, Weedon Road at 07:00 or meet the leader at the walk start from Bakewell SK 217691. Park in the road opposite the hospital on A619 at the edge of Bakewell. Lunch alfresco. Maximum car sharing. Brian Hill.

Circular Day walk of 11½ miles. Car-share from CS at 08:30 or meet the leader at the 09:30 start from The Foxton Locks Car Park SP 692892. Explorer 223. Pay & display £1.50. Lunch alfresco at Mowsley, but there is a pub. Children welcome. Morning via Gumley and Saddington. Afternoon returning along the towpath. Lots of stiles. No dogs please. Chris Roberts.

Afternoon walk of 8½ miles. 14:00 start from Kelmarsh Church SP 735792. The walk goes through a disused railway tunnel, so it is not for the claustrophobic. Torches essential. Walking via Clipston, East Farndon and Great Oxendon. Kneale Grainger.

All cars, no more than half full, travel to Wimpole Hall NT car park TL 336508. £2 charge at Wimpole Hall (NT members free, please bring sticker), redeemable on refreshments. Full cars then travel to the walk start at Gamlingay Cinques car park TL 227529. Lunch alfresco. No dogs please. Steve Sayers. 12 at CS. 13 started the walk at 10:10 and finished with tea at 16:00.

Northamptonshire Area event at Yardley Chase. 3 or 5 miles. 09:30 for 10:00 start from Yardley Hastings Memorial Hall in Northampton Road. Walking to the edge of Yardley Chase and back to gain publicity for our efforts to improve permissive access to The Chase. More details in the Area Newsletter. An optional 2 miles walk will follow. Autumn afternoon circular. Afternoon walk of 6½ miles. 13:45 start from the village green opposite The Old Dairy Farm Craft Centre in Upper Stowe SP 643567. Please park considerately in the village. A hills and valley walk via Grimscote and Litchborough taking in magnificent views across Northamptonshire countryside (weather permitting). Some stiles. Richard Warr. Radio Northampton spoke to David Craddock over the phone for 5 minutes before the walk.

The walk starts from the fine mill town of Belper and takes in part of the Mid-Shires Way (Shining Cliff Woods and Alderswasley School, returning via either the Cromford Canal or Crich and The Torrs. Morning Walk & Afternoon Planning Workshop. Morning walk of 7 miles. 10:00 start from Waterways Museum, Grand Union Canal, Stoke Bruerne SP 743499. Paid parking in the field by the church on the Shutlanger side of Stoke Bruerne, or behind the museum in Chapel Lane, £2.00 fee. For lunch bring alfresco picnic or eat at the café beside the museum. The afternoon will consist of walk planning / map reading for those who would like to lead walks. Explorer map 207 will be used. Andrew Marten.

Full cars then travel to the walk start at Wimpole Hall NT car park TL 336508. £2 charge at Wimpole Hall (NT members free, please bring sticker). Lunch alfresco. No dogs please. Peter Hawes. Walked into Cambridge afterwards for a café.

Lunch at Ketton Club, where our own food is essential. Walking via Tinwell, Ketton, Geeston, Easton on the Hill and Wothorpe, passing through Lincolnshire, Rutland and Northamptonshire. Afternoon walk of 5 miles. 13:30 start from Fawsley Lakes (near Fawsley Church) SP 565569. The walk uses The Knightley Way to Badby, returning through Badby Woods and Everdon Hill. Margaret Mabbutt.

Lunch in The Crispin Arms at Wollaston, where our own food is essential. The route includes parts of The Three Shires Way and The Milton Keynes Boundary Walk. It only passes through one village (Easton Maudit) and one hamlet (Strixton). Chris Eilbeck. 3 at CS. 14 walkers observed the 2-minutes silence and got soaked in the afternoon.

Lunch at The Cardigan Arms in Moulton, where our own food is essential. The afternoon walk starts at 13:30 from Barlow Lane car park. The morning walk is through Overstone Park; the afternoon through the village of Boughton. Walking along good quality paths, some metalled, none ploughed. A few stiles. Fran & Peter Pollak. 2 at CS. 27 morning walkers finished at 12:10. 21 in the pub at lunchtime. 17 afternoon walkers finished in the rain at 15:45. 15 walked all day.

Pub at Kensworth we may be able to use. Peek into Whipsnade Zoo, see gliders and the Tree Cathedral, and enjoy National Trust tea near the end. No stiles. No dogs please. A Pre-Christmas Perambulation. Afternoon walk of 5 miles. 13:30 start from The Red Lion, Crick SP 590724. Please park considerately in the village. An easy walk on bridleways and The Grand Union Canal to Yelvertoft and back. A few stiles. David & Doreen Stringer.
Sunday 21st December
Day and Afternoon Walks, Christmas Meal and Carol Service. Day walk 12½ miles, afternoon leisurely 4 miles.
Day walk. If staying for the carol service car-share from CS at 08:25 for a 09:00 start from outside Hackleton Baptist Church SP 806550. Park in the village hall car park down the bottom of Chapel Lane (alongside the church). Lunch in Brafield Working Men's Club, where our own food is OK and rolls are available at the bar. Walking via Horton, Yardley Hastings and Denton, mostly using The Northamptonshire Round. View of Castle Ashby. 10 stiles. John Tye.
Afternoon walk starts at 13:30 from the church. Led by Rita Freeland.
Either walk finishes in good time for a Christmas Meal in The White Hart at 16:00. Numbers for this part of the activity are limited to 42 and booking is required in any case by 7th December; see our newsletter for details. The meal will finish in time for us to attend what the pastor describes as an unconventional carol service in The Baptist Church. 3 at CS. Started with 17 all-day walkers, had 19 in the Working Men's Club, and finished with 15. 30 afternoon walkers. Full house for the meal. 35 at the carol service enjoyed mince pies and tea/coffee afterwards.

Boxing Day Breather. Morning walk of a leisurely 5 miles. 10:00 start from Northampton, Brampton Valley Way car park, just off A5199 opposite Windhover PH SP 738652. Walking via Chapel and Church Bramptons. David Craddock.

Walgrave Parish Historic Walk. Afternoon walk of a leisurely 4 miles. 13:45 start from Walgrave Village Hall Car Park SP 801724. Free Space for 25 cars. Dogs must be on a lead. 8 stiles. John Beale.
