Circular Day walk of 12 miles. Car-share from CS at 09:00 or meet the leader at the 09:30 start from Riverside Car Park, Earls Barton SP 859619. Lunch alfresco. Walking via Lower End, Wollaston, Irchester and Doddington. Shirley Row.
Saturday 5th January
Old, new and natural. Afternoon walk of a leisurely 4¼ miles. 13:30 start from the picnic area car park next to The Holiday Inn, Bedford Road, Northampton SP 776597. There is additional parking nearby if the car park is full. The walk will be at a relaxed pace, mostly on good paths and tracks. We will be joined on the walk by the Mayor of Northampton, Lee Mason. Family walk. The walk borders Delapré Lake then goes through Charter Wood and Delapré gardens before passing Delapré Abbey itself. After walking through Cotton End the River Nene is crossed by the new Wathen Wigg bridge where the waterside development is taking place. We'll follow the Nene Way along Beckett's Park and Midsummer Meadow before going slightly off the level through Barne's Meadow nature reserve and finishing at the Whitewater centre. No stiles. No real hills. Walking by way of Newton Bromswold, Knotting and Knotting Green. A few stiles. Frank Row. 24 walkers. 19 ate in The Chequers afterwards.

Morning walk of a leisurely 5½ miles. 10:00 start from the Boughton Crossing Car Park (for The Brampton Valley Way, opposite The Windhover PH) SP 738651. Walking via Chapel Brampton and Church Brampton. Fran & Peter Pollak. 32 walkers. The walk had to be re-routed because of flooding

Circular day walk of 13 miles. Car-share from CS at 08:40 for a 09:30 start from Newton Bromswold Church SP 998658. Park on the grass verge alongside the lane; please do not impede the turning area. Lunch at Chelveston, where pub grub is available and our own food is OK. The route embraces recently re-opened rights of way across the former Chelveston airbase. Walking via Rushden, Higham Ferrers, Chelveston and Yeldon. David Craddock.

Lunch in The Social Club, where our own food is essential. Afternoon walk starts at 13:30 from The Club. Morning walk via Pattishall, Eastcote, Dalscote and Gayton. Afternoon walk via Nether Heyford. Fran & Peter Pollak. 3 at CS. 24 morning walkers and a dog, 22 in The Club at lunchtime and 21 afternoon walkers. 16 completed the whole day. Finished at 15:30.

Lunch in Greatworth Sports & Social Club, where our own food is essential. Dogs are not allowed in The Club. Walking via Charlton, Farthinghoe, Marston St Lawrence, Thenford and Purston. A pleasant undulating walk via Danes Moor, Edgcote and Chipping Warden with some nice views, weather permitting. A few stiles. No dogs please. Jeff Noble.

Park on the verge at the bottom of the village (plenty of room). Lunch in Ringstead Social Club where our own food is essential. The walk features The Nene Valley and an old railway. Walking via Twywell Hills & Dales, Cranford, Great Addington, Denford and Woodford. Chris Eilbeck. 13 walkers finished at 15:25.

Free parking in the Market Place. Lunch alfresco. Maximum Car Sharing. Walking via Pentrich and South Wingate. Crich is the location of the National Tramway Museum and the setting of the ficticious Cardale in ITV's Peak Practice. No dogs please. Allan Davies.

Car-free, care-free. Linear Day walk of 18 miles. Park free in Northampton Railway Station Car Park with clean boots in time to catch the 09:30 train to Wolverton, costing £5.70 (which we can halve if we buy tickets in groups of four, so allow time for that), so that we can walk back. The George is closed, so lunch will be at Roade Ex Servicemen's Club, where our own food is essential, but drinks are available. Meals are available at The Cock, but you would probably need to book that. There will be two miles each of canal, road and concrete/tarmac track. 8 stiles. No hills worth a mention (but the dearth of loos is). Target finishing time is 18:00. John Tye. Train left at 10:00 with 19 walkers. 20 walkers finished the 17¾ miles at 17:30.
