Restored church organ - memorial to WW2 American airmen. Walking via Wymington, Podington and Irchester, and using The Nene Way. Shirley Row.

Use the pub car park if you will be patronising it for a drink after the walk, otherwise park considerately in the village. Possible lunch at another pub, to be announced on the day. Lunch at Stagsden pub available, where pub grub is served, but our own food is banned. A walk to Bromham, Stagsden and Picthill with good open views. John Ledger. 13 walkers reached the start after diverting around a flood. 9 in The Royal George at lunch time.
Wednesday 17th January
Newnham Windmill. Morning walk of a leisurely 6 miles. 09:30 start from Newnham SP 576595. Park considerately around The Green. Pub lunch available after the walk. Walk includes entry to Newnham Windmill (with permission). One long steep hill and one awkward stile. Excellent views if the weather is good. Returning via Little Everdon. No dogs please. Pub lunch available at The Red Lion, Culworth - the leader has arranged to phone through the order. Walking via Morteton Pinkney and Woodford Halse on grass or tracks with nice views and rolling hills. 7 stiles. No dogs please. Welford Sibbertoft Circular. Morning walk of 6½ miles. 09:30 start from The Wharf Inn, Welford, Northamptonshire SP 644808. Park at The Wharf Inn if using the pub, otherwise park considerately in the village. Optional pub lunch after the walk. The walk heads along the A5199 to join the footpath towards Sulby Abbey, then towards Sibbertoft, joins the Kelmarsh Road to pick up The Jurassic Way, and crosses Welford Reservoir. No dogs please. Lunch in The Two Brewers, where our own food is OK in a room set aside, or pub grub is available. Afternoon walk starts at 14:00 from The Two Brewers. There are loos after 1¼ miles in the morning. The morning uses bits of the Ouse Valley Way to the memorial clock tower in Filgrave, and through Hollington Wood and Petsoe End. Morning 10, afternoon 5 stiles. John Tye. 1 at CS. 29 morning walkers and a dog finished at 12:45. 21 used the pub, mostly sitting outside, and 10 stayed for the afternoon, joined by another 11. The walk finished at 16:35.

Peak District walk of 12 miles. Car-share from The Turnpike, Harpole Turn, Weedon Road at 07:00. 09:30 walk start from Bakewell SK 217691. Park opposite the hospital on the A619 at the edge of Bakewell. Lunch al fresco. Bring full wet weather clothing. Takes in part of Chatsworth Park and the villages of Rowsley, Beeley and Calton Lees. A moderate walk in the peak district between the Wye and Derwent rivers, with attractive villages. Allan Davies. 20 walkers

Circular Day walk of 11¾ miles. Car-share from CS at 09:00 or meet the leader at the 09:30 start from Harlestone Firs car park on A428 (outside garden centre) SP 711637. Caution advised when parking as the A428 is a busy road. Lunch at Live and Let Live, Harpole, where our own food is essential. Easy walking (short sections over tarmac paths at Harlestone Golf Course and metalled/tarmac paths approaching Harpole). Very few muddy footpaths! Fine views over surrounding countryside and some excellent examples of the use of Northamptonshire stone for house building in the villages of Lower and Upper Harlestone. Morning walk is via Harlestone Firs, Lower Harlestone, Harlestone and Nobottle (distance of 7 miles). Afternoon walk returns via Upper Harlestone, Lower Harlestone and Harlestone Firs (distance of 4.75 miles). Fran and Peter Pollak. 1 at CS. 27 morning walkers, 25 afternoon. Ate in the pub garden. Finished at 15:25.
