Saturday 6th May Manifold Pleasures. Peak District walk of a moderate 14½ miles. Depart from the Cinema Car Park, Sixfields, Northampton at 07:00 for Alstonefield SK 132555. Maximum car sharing. Bring full wet weather clothing, packed lunch and drinks for alfresco lunch. Takes in Dovedale and Manifold valleys. Total ascent 450 metres. Allan Davies
Push-chair friendly walk. Afternoon walk of 4½ miles. 14:00 start from Salcey Forest, the Swan's Way car park on the road from the B526 to Hartwell SP 810509. Leisurely walk with a half-hour stop at the café and a visit to the tree walk. No stiles. John Tye. 2 walkers (raining), no pushchairs and no advert in Chronicle & Echo. Admired bluebells, primroses, blossom, birdsong and a drilling woodpecker. Actually 5 miles. Finished at about 16:10 without stopping at the café.

Tuesday 9th May Ouse Views. Morning walk of about 7 miles. 09:30 start from Sharnbrook - Church Lane, near the car park SP 994596. Please park considerately in village. Optional pub lunch. The walk follows the River Ouse to Felmersham, on to Odell Country Park, South East to Pavenham, Northeast to Radwell, and via Pinchmill Islands. No dogs please. Sue & Michael Holmes
Saturday 13th May Views and Woods. Afternoon walk of 7¼ miles. 13:30 start from Piddington - the end of Forest Road (a dead end, go as far as possible) SP 805539. Not much room, so park sensibly. Spent some time on the tree walk, so reached the pub at 13:00, so the afternoon started at 13:45 with 12 walkers including a visitor from Warwickshire RA.

Sunday 11th June Circular day walk of roughly 20 miles. 09:00 start from Northampton; the car park at the bottom of the lane off Walter Tull Way, Sixfields (near Sixfields lake) SP 730597. No lunch stop, extra tea stops instead, so bring extra food and drink (at least four stops). Very few stiles. A shorter revised version of the 1989 Spires & Squires marathon, using The Nene Way towpath and footpaths. Andrew Gilbertson

Tuesday 20th June Twilight pub crawl. Evening walk of about 6 miles. 19:00 start from School Lane in Harpole SP 690609. Features two pub stops. Bring a torch because the last part of the walk will be after sunset. Walking via Nobottle to Great Brington for pub stop number one, then to Little Brington for pub stop number 2, back via Nobottle. Linear morning walk of 5½ miles taking in the new Blackbridge over the A14 near Burton Latimer and the Twywell-Woodford A14 footbridge. Meet at 09:30 in the Seasons Garden Centre car park, Cranford Road, Burton Latimer SP 906756. Park on the right hand side of the car park entrance. Drivers will take their cars to Woodford, and will be shuttled back to the Seasons Garden Centre for the start of the walk at 10:00.
Circular Day walk of 10½ miles starting at 10:00 in the Seasons Garden Centre car park, Cranford Road, Burton Latimer SP 906756. Park on the right hand side of the car park entrance. Lunchtime in The Knightley Arms, where our own food is OK or pub snacks are available. Afternoon start time about 13:45 from the pub. Finishing with cream tea (needs booking) at 16:15 in the pub. Use the pub car park if you will be patronising the pub. Full details / booking arrangements are in the newsletter. Bookings required by 4th July, but will probably reach capacity before then. No need to book just for the walk. David Craddock. 19 booked for breakfast of whom 18 came. 30 morning walkers, of whom only 6 were in shorts on account of the doubtful weather. 23 walkers on the afternoon, which finished at 16:25. 21 booked for the cream tea, of which 17 partook. One morning walker preferred to shop in Leamington Spa than walk in the afternoon!

Saturday 22nd July Peak District strenuous walk of 10-12 miles. Depart from the cinema car park, Sixfields, Northampton at 07:00 for the walk start at Old Glossop SK 048941. Maximum car sharing. Bring full wet weather clothing, packed lunch and drinks for alfresco lunch. Takes in Bleaklow Head, a section of the Pennine Way and a Roman road (Doctor's Gate); also a search for wartime aircraft crash sites on Bleaklow. David Craddock. Three cars took 12 people. 14 on the walk. Got back at 18:30.

Circular day walk of 15½ miles. CS 08:15 to meet the leader for a 09:30 start at Tilton-on- the-Hill (Leics) - Old Melton Road near the church and pub - off B6047 SK 743058. Lunch at the New Greyhound PH in Billesdon, where our own food is OK (may change hands beforehand); a proper village local. A shortened afternoon walk if too hot or wet. The walk features medieval villages and country houses and rolling countryside with lots of grass, including Lowesby, Quenby and Ingarsby. Chris Eilbeck. 2 at CS. 8 walkers arrived by diverting around a road accident. One who contemplated the short afternoon option was persuaded to complete the whole distance. Finished at 16:30.

Relaxed pace mainly on good paths (one stile); easy shortcut for a 3 mile walk. Suitable for children. Steve Sayers. 8 walkers, including one family.

Then full cars travel to Great Easton SP 849929 for the start of the walk from the war memorial. Lunch alfresco. Steve Sayers. 12 at CS took 6 cars. 21 walkers took 6 cars back to Great Easton, where we started the walk at 09:45. 12 were in shorts.

Optional pig roast after the walk (needs advanced payment; see the newsletter). Walking via Potcote, Caswell and along The Knightley Way. No need to book just for the walk. Allan Davies. 49 walkers finished at 16:35. 41 at the pig roast, which was served at 17:00.

Morning and afternoon walks of 8½ and 4¾ miles respectively with garden visits and cream tea. CS at 09:00 for a 09:45 start from Cold Ashby's sports ground car park, Stanford Road SP 652765 (on the left, 200 metres along the road to Honey Hill) photo. At the end of the morning walk we move our cars to the official event car park in Bridle Lane photo (the first field on the right down the track behind the telephone box in the centre of the village). Map. Lunch will be in the Black Horse, where our own food will be OK, in fact essential. Visitors for the afternoon can use the Bridle Lane car park SP 655765 from 13:00. From 14:00, for £3 we get cream tea in the village hall and a map to visit nineteen village gardens. We also will have the opportunity to buy home-made produce. I suggest that we aim to have tea together at 15:00. The afternoon walk will start at 16:00 from the Bridle Lane car park. The morning walk will be over the Hemplow Hills, using a little Jurassic Way and a little canal; the afternoon over Honey Hill, with unfortunately quite a lot of minor road walking. Four stiles in the morning, none in the afternoon. John Tye. 4 at CS. On a hot day, 28 morning walkers, of whom 14 had used the sports ground car park. Reached the pub at 13:30. 13 walkers started the afternoon walk, and 11 finished it at 18:00. One rambler won a raffle prize.

Saturday 19th August Morning walk of 8½ miles. 09:00 start from outside The Maltsters PH in Badby SP 560590. Meet at 08:30 for car share or lift at Sainsbury's car park, Weedon Road, Duston, Northampton. Leisurely if weather good. 4 stiles. Megan Cahill. 5 walkers.
Sunday 20th August Circular day walk of about 11½ miles. CS 08:30 or meet the leader for a 09:30 start from near Hargrave Church TL 036706. Lunch alfresco at Catworth, but possible pub stop for a drink. John Ledger

Morning walk of 6½ miles. 09:30 start from near The White Hart PH in Stoke Goldington SP 837489. Use the pub car park if patronising it after the walk, otherwise please park considerately in the village. Walking to the outskirts of Salcey Forest and back. Brian & Di Hopkins. 32 walkers, after two breaks and some blackberrying finished at 12:35. Actually 7 miles. About 26 in the pub afterwards.

Evening walk of about 5 miles. 19:15 start from Bugbrooke Church Car Park SP 674574. Megan Cahill. 7 walkers dashed round at 3 mph, with no drink break allowed, to finish at 20:50 in the rapidly-encroaching darkness. Five in the Five Bells afterwards.
Saturday 26th August Afternoon walk of 6¾ miles. 14:00 start from Spratton Recreation Ground / Sports & Social Club Car Park SP 714702. Smith Street (Last RH turn before leaving Spratton in the Creaton direction). Walking via Creaton, and Hollowell. David Craddock

Jurassic Way, part 7 of 7; Wakerley - Stamford. Linear walk of 12½ miles. CS 08:00 for all cars (with two people maximum) to travel to Stamford to meet at the Station Road free long-stay car park TF 028068. Then full cars travel to Barrowden SK 946002 for the start of the walk from The Green. Lunch alfresco. Steve Sayers. 11 at CS took 5 cars. 18 at Stamford squshed into 4 cars. 19 walkers left Barrowden at 09:45, ate blackberries throughout the walk in Rutland, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire, lunched at Duddington Church, had a belated drink at The Blue Bell in Easton-on-the-Hill and finished at 16:40. 33 walkers took part in this series of walks, and 13 walked the whole way.
Monday 28th August Circular day walk of 11½ miles. CS 09:00 for a 10:00 start from Great Cransley - Church Lane SP 825765. Please park on the left at the end of the lane. Our own food OK for lunch at The White Horse PH in Old. Margaret Kirchmeier
