Figure-of-8 walk of 12¾ miles. Morning 7¼ miles, afternoon 5½ miles. CS 08:55 for a 09:30 start from The New Inn, Silver Street, Abthorpe SP 648465. Park in the New Inn. Our own food is OK in the New Inn for lunch. Afternoon start 13:30. Morning via Wappenham, Weedon Lois and Slapton, using Sybil Cartwright's bridge. Afternoon mostly grass and tracks circumnavigating Bucknell Wood, but still very muddy. 47 stiles. John Tye. 27 morning walkers and 2 dogs. 22 in the pub. 22 walkers and a dog started the afternoon; 21 and a dog finished it. 16 walkers and a dog walked the whole day.

Sunday 22nd January Riseley Ramble. Circular Day walk of 12 miles. CS 09:00 to meet the leader for a 10:00 start from Riseley main street near the Skoda garage at the north end of the village TL 047634. Park considerately on the road. For lunch, our own food or pubs in Kimbolton. 22 miles' driving from CS. Route takes us from Riseley to Kimbolton, passing to the south of Chadwell End, and through Stonely; returning via Swineshead. Circular day walk of about 12½ miles. CS 08:45 to meet the leader for a 09:30 start from Pitsford Water car park, Grange Lane (through the village) SP 761687. Lunch at The White Horse Inn in Old, where we can eat our own food off plates supplied by the landlord; no packed lunches to be visible. All boots to be removed, i.e. no boot covers or bags allowed. Walk overlooking the reservoir and valley, but not on the periphery path, via Holcot, Hannington, Brixworth and Pitsford. Richard Merson. The car park was closed. 32 walkers actually walked 14 miles, finishing at 16:00.

Saturday 11th February Mud & Muck. Afternoon walk of 7 miles. 13:30 start from the Bottom Lock car park at Stoke Bruerne, with cars facing the canal SP 749490. Note that the car park is off the A508 on the opposite side of it to (and not actually in) Stoke Bruerne. OK for fit children. Walking south east along the canal to the bridge on the Grafton Regis/Bozenham Mill Road, then via Grafton Regis and Alderton. Bert Jones

The walk was actually led by Peter Hawes. 5 at CS. 11 on the walk, which was indeed 11½ miles and finished at about 15:00.

Afternoon walk of 5¼ miles. 14:00 start from School Lane, Hartwell SP 788505. Use the Community Centre car park (with permission). Circuit around Hartwell. 9 stiles. John Tye. There was competition in the car park from the 12-hour goal marathon. 27 walkers and a dog. Finished at 16:05.

Circular day walk of 10½ miles. CS 08:15 to meet the leader for a 09:15 start from the layby on the Middleton Cheney - Chacombe crossroads SP 498426. Lunch at the Plough Inn in Upper Wardington, where our own food is OK. In the morning, walking via Middleton Cheney and Chacombe. In the afternoon, back to Middleton Cheney by a shorter route. Alan & Joan Watts. 5 at CS. 25 walkers and a dog. Morning via Chacombe, the Oxford Canal and Cropredy. Only ¾ hour in the pub! Afternoon extended by a Conservation Walk at Chacombe, but still finished at 14:15.

Finished about 15:00.

Saturday 18th March Circular day walk of 10 miles. 10:30 start from Bourton-on-the-Water's Birdland car park SP 169202. Car park cost £5. Lunch at Naunton, where pub food is available or we eat our own at the nearby riverside. A possible 5-mile alternative walk is to Lower Slaughter for coffee and return by the same route, then spend the afternoon in Bourton. The 10-mile walk is via the Slaughters to Naunton for lunch; returning along the Windrush valley. No dogs please. Gill Lockett

Lunch at Blue Bell Inn, Easton on the Hill, where our own food is OK. Walk passes many historic sites plus views over Stamford and Burghley House. Visits Barnack Church, 'Hills and Holes' (a quarry dating back to Roman times), the old line of the Welland Canal, St Leonard's Priory, Alms Houses in Stamford, Easton Church and Wothorpe House (a ruin). Lunch in the club, where our own food is OK. Afternoon starts at 13:00. The morning will be via Aldwincle and Lowick; the afternoon passing Islip Mill to a dismantled railway track out towards Titchmarsh Mill then returning via a path near Titchmarsh local nature reserve and finally along the Nene Way. No dogs please. Peter & Brenda Hawes. 5 at CS. 13 morning walkers, 15 in The Club, 20 afternoon walkers, 9 walked all day. Finished at 15:30. Actually 5½ miles in the afternoon because of the removed bridge near Titchmarsh Mill.

Lunch at Carrington Arms in Castlethorpe, where our own food is OK in the pub. Walking via Potterspury, Furtho, Cosgrove and Grafton Regis. David Craddock. 32 walkers and a dog (Stella). We just managed to squash into the pub, where some played skittles. Finished at about 15:30.

Coach trip to Kew, with optional guided walk. 08:30 at Victoria Street Coach stop in Northampton, near Church lane/Campbell Square SP 755610. Cost including entry to Kew: adults £20, senior citizens £17.40, children under 17 with an adult £10. Café available in the grounds. Leave Kew at 17:30. See the newsletter. Booking required by 6th March. Contact Megan Cahill. A full coach load of 51. A large group of us started with coffee, but then split up. A good day for the greenhouses (drizzle). Several took a walk along the river, and several sampled the beer made from Kew's hops. The coach returned at 17:00.
