Jurassic Way, part 4. Winwick to East Farndon. Linear walk of 14 miles. CS 08:30 for all cars, with a maximum of two occupents, to travel to East Farndon SP 716848. Leaving some cars at East Farndon, full cars travel on to Winwick for the start of the walk from the grass verge east of the village SP 628734. Own food essential because lunch will be alfresco. Steve Sayers. 8 at CS. 15 walkers started at 09:45. An alcohol-free walk in which we lunched in Welford Churchyard, 100 metres from a pub. Tea and cakes in the Sibbertoft Reading Room. Finished at 17:00. 13 have completed all stages so far.

Sunday 2nd October Circular Day walk of 12 miles. CS 08:00 for a 9:30 start from Combrook Church, off the B4455 Fosse Way leading to A429 Moreton in the Marsh SP 307517. Sunday 9th October Circular Day walk of 11 miles. CS 08:40 for a 09:30 start from The Green, Woodford SP 966769. Our own food will be OK at Islip WMC. The walk will use the 48 steps installed by our RA Northamptonshire Area volunteers at Twywell and will pass through Ringstead, Denford, Islip and Twywell. David Craddock. 22 started the walk, and 21 finished it.
Wednesday 12th October Morning walk of Approx. 8½ miles. 09:30 start from Thorpe Mandeville, outside Three Conies PH SP 531447. Use pub car park. Optional pub lunch after the walk (no own food). Meet next to The Flying Fox PH, which is visible from the roundabout. Lunch at The Green Man in Eversholt, but our own food is not allowed inside the pub. Easy walking passing Woburn Abbey. Graham Edmonds. 25 walkers, ate in the pub garden, had tea in Woburn, and finished at 15:05.

Features Lower Catesby viaduct. Afternoon start at 13:45. Shuckburgh conservation walk in the morning. Priors Marston area in the afternoon. Clive & Chris Spinney. 29 walkers and 2 dogs in the morning got wet, so we were allowed to eat in the pub.

Thursday 3rd November Morning walk of 7 miles. 10:00 start from the parking area between Old & Stony Stratford SP 783409. Featuring lots of water! By the old canal from Old Stratford to Cosgrove, and by the canal and river to Old Wolverton. Back to Stony Stratford over fields and paths to the river again. Rosemary Weston

Lunch at The Chequers in Rothersthorpe, where our own food is OK. Some pavement & roadside walking - route may have to change due to building work. Lunch at The Old Olive Bush in Flecknoe, where our own food is OK and soup is available. Walking via Shuckburgh park and Napton. Gill Howe. 20 walkers and a dog in the morning; 19 and a different dog in the afternoon. 7 had soup during the 40-minutes' lunchtime. Actually 13.5 miles, finished at 16:00.

From Northampton A43 cross A14, keep to the main road into town, turn left after the railway bridge and right at the mini roundabout. B&Q is on the left. Optional pub lunch at Broughton. Figure-of-8 walk of 14 miles: morning 8½, afternoon 5½. CS 08:30 for a 09:15 start from near England's Rose Pub in Moreton Pinkney SP 576493. The pub is closed, so lunch will be in the Village Hall (just to the left of the pub). Park in the Village Hall car park. We will have coffee, tea and mulled wine and, I hope, some home brew in return for a contribution to the hire of the hall. Any other offers? - please contact me. The hall will be opened around 12:00 (to switch the heating on), so it would be nice if a hardy afternoon-walking volunteer could arrive at that time. If you contact me I can give you some jobs to occupy yourself. We could also do with a morning-walking volunteer or two to finish tidying up, lock up and return the key (because if we delay the afternoon start we will be walking in the dark). Afternoon starts at 13:45. Morning 80% grass, via Culworth & Eydon, including 34 stiles and a bog. Afternoon 95% grass and tracks circumnavigating Canons Ashby, but with 5 stiles, ½ mile of road verge and a little mud. John Tye. 21 in the morning, 17 stayed for lunch including hot mince pies, and 20 in the afternoon. 14 did the whole walk. Finished at 16:00 in daylight.

Sunday 11th December Circular Day walk of 13 or 14 miles. CS 08:15 or meet the leader for a 09:15 start at Barrowden (Rutland) Village Green, near the pub and the pond SK 946001. Off A43 via Wakerly. Food at Waggon and Horses pub in Uppingham, but own food OK as well. Magnificent views of Harringworth viaduct, probably with a walk under it. Eight villages will be visited with fine views in the Chater & Welland valleys. Chris Eilbeck. 9 at CS. About 15 walkers. Walked under the viaduct. Finished at about 16:00.

Christmas Walk, Dinner and Carol Service. Figure-of-8 walk of 10¾ miles: morning 6¼, afternoon 4½. CS 08:30 for a 09:15 start from outside the Butchers Arms pub in Greens Norton SP 667498. Please do not park in the village centre. Use the car park for the playing fields or for the medical centre. Both of these are on the Towcester Road, from the A5 roundabout. Lunch at the British Legion club, where our own food is OK. Dinner at 16:00, and carol service at 18:00 in Greens Norton Church. Dinner fully booked with 50. Afternoon starts at 13:15. David Craddock. 9 at CS. 26 and a dog (Max) for a bitterly cold morning walk, 27 in the club at lunch time, 47 afternoon walkers. 24 walked all day, finishing at 15:15 in good time for the meal. 34 in the church including one in the choir. About 15 completed the whole day. A thankyou to the vast majority (all except one couple, I think) who abided by the parking arrangements.
