Jurassic Way, part 1. Banbury - Chipping Warden. Linear walk of 11 miles. CS 09:00 for all cars, with a maximum of two occupants, to travel to Chipping Warden Church SP 499487. Some full cars then travel to the Castle Quay North car park in Banbury SP 458408 (£1 fee) for the start of the walk. Lunch at Middleton Cheney Social Club. Steve Sayers. 13 at CS. 20 walkers. A light shower and some drizzle, but it poured minutes after getting into the cars.

Evening walk of 4 miles. 19:30 start from Billing Mill car park in Northampton SP 814613. Walk suitable for children, taking in River Nene, Aquadrome, Great Billing and Ecton Brook. Maurice Tebbutt. 21 walkers. The walk was actually led by Tony & Joy Bishop because Maurice had to attend a footpaths meeting. Although the walk did follow the Nene, it went through Little Houghton, and was actually 5 miles (nobody accepted the offered 4-miles alternative). Finished at 21:05 outside the Billing Mill, which was used by six of us.

Figure-of-8 walk of 14½ miles. Morning 8 miles, afternoon 6½ miles. CS 08:30 for a 09:15 start from The Green, Braunston, near The Wheatsheaf pub SP 543663. Our own sandwiches OK in the Wheatsheaf. No meals.
Afternoon start 13:30. Morning mostly grass including some excellent ridge and furrow, via Willoughby and Barby Hill including 250 metres of the Oxford Canal and many stiles. Afternoon includes 1½ miles of the Grand Union, Miry Bridge and Wolfhamcote, but no stiles. John Tye. 3 at CS. 17 walkers started the morning walk; 14 finished it. The morning encountered long grass, gates to climb, a couple of divertions by the leader and a field of rape, resulting in a finishing time of 13:20 (just before the afternoon walkers arrived). There were 14 in the pub. The afternoon started at 14:10 with 10 walkers, was uneventful and finished at about 17:00.

Thursday 16th June The Septuagenarian Saunter. Over 70s walk of 4 miles. 19:00 start from Harlestone Firs layby SP 711637. Park near Wyevale Garden Centre. Bring Champagne if it's on or near your birthday. A celebratory walk for the over 70s and their partners only, at a leisurely pace. Bob Bradley

Tuesday 28th June Circular day walk of 11 to 12 miles. 09:30 start from the first layby on the left of the A43 after Brackley towards Oxford SP 582354, where there is a footpath sign pointing the wrong way. Lunch at Croughton. Not suitable for children. Walk includes Juniper Hill and Tusmore. Not for the faint hearted as the A43 dual carriageway has to be crossed near Tusmore. No dogs please. Pig Roast, with vegetarian option, after the walk at 17:00. Booking is required for the pig roast by 15th July (see the Newsletter). Walking via Abthorpe, skirting Kingsthorn Wood, crossing dismantled railway, return via Mill Farm. Allan Davies. 46 walkers got drizzled upon. Actually 5.2 miles. Finished at 16:35. 47 in the pub for the pig roast drifted home at about 18:30.

CS 09:00 for all cars, with a maximum of two occupants, to travel to Staverton to meet at the church SP 542612. Full cars then travel to Chipping Warden church SP 499487 for the start of the walk. Finished at 13:00. 28 ate in the pub, and 3 joined us just for a drink.

Dartmoor Weekend, walking the Dartmoor Triangle (49 miles). Fairly strenuous. Using Youth Hostels, and presumably back-packing. Bookings now closed with 12 people. David Craddock. 11 members actually went.
Saturday 13th August Afternoon walk of 4¾ miles. 14:00 start from Weston Underwood, near the Cowper's Oak pub SP 865506. Walking through a corner of Yardley Chase, and using parts of the Milton Keynes Boundary Walk and The Horton to Ravenstone Way. No stiles. John Tye. 14 walkers turned out on a wet afternoon with 7 umbrellas. Visited Cowper's Alcove. Finished at 16:10.

Wednesday 24th August Morning walk of 6¼ miles. 09:30 start from the car park in the centre of Long Buckby SP 626675. Optional pub lunch after the walk. Walking east then southwest to the canal, along the canal northwards, then east again to Murcott and return. David Craddock. 21 walkers on a thoroughly wet day. 15 in the pub afterwards.
Saturday 27th August Afternoon walk of 5¾ miles. 14:00 start from Thorpeville, Northampton (the side road off A43 100 yards north of Round Spinney Roundabout) SP 788651. Walking via Moulton and Overstone Grange to Overstone and back. David Craddock

Jurassic Way, part 3. Staverton to Winwick. Linear walk of 12¾ miles. CS 08:30 for all cars, with a maximum of two occupants, to travel to Winwick to meet on the grass verge SE of the village SP 628734. Full cars then travel to Staverton church SP 542612 for the start of the walk. Lunch alfresco. Steve Sayers. 6 at CS. 19 walkers started at 09:45. Finished at 16:45 after tea and cakes in West Haddon.

Circular day walk of 12½ miles. CS 08:50 for a 09:30 start from Chipping Warden, near the church SP 499487. Please park considerately in Mill Lane. Our own food OK at the George & Dragon in Chacombe for lunch. Good views from low hills. Walking via the Wardingtons, Chacombe and Williamscott. Gill Howe
