Afternoon walk of 4¼ miles. 13:45 start from St. Peter's Bridge, near The Britannia, off the Bedford Road, Northampton SP 779595. Walking via Great Houghton. 6 stiles. John Tye. Started with 19 walkers; finished with 15 (4 walked to the start, so took a shortcut home).

Circular day walk of 11¾ miles. CS 08:00 for a 08:45 start from the Green, Deanshanger SP 765395. Lunch at the Two Brewers, Thornborough, where our own food is OK in the pub. Walking via Wicken, Leckhampstead, Thornborough Mill and Beachampton. Peter Hawes. 5 at CS. 11 walkers in the morning, including a guest from the Milton Keynes Group. In the pub at 11:30. 10 walkers in the afternoon. Actually 12½ miles. Finished at 14:30.

Circular day walk of 9½ miles. CS 09:15 or meet the leader for a 10:00 start from Blakesley High Street, near the PH SP 624501. Lunch in the New Inn, Abthorpe, where our own food is OK in the pub. Not suitable for disabled. Dogs on leads OK, but owners to sort any problems at the pub stop. In the morning we shall go through Bradden. In the Afternoon Wappenham is on our route. Circular day walk of 13½ miles. CS 08:40 or meet the leader for a 09:30 start from Medbourne church, on B664 North East of Market Harborough. SP 800931. Lunch at The Fox in Wilbarston, where our own food is OK. Many magnificent views over the Welland valley & surrounding area, with visits to two tops (Nevill Holt & Six Ways near Sutton Bassett). Chris Eilbeck. 7 cars at CS, 2 of which conveyed 8 of us to Medbourne where we joined another 8 walkers. The Northamptonshire rain did not make it across the boundary. The walk was actually 13 miles, and it finished at 15:45.

Bob & Joan Bradley. 13 walkers for an uneventful but windy walk of 7¼ miles by GPS, which finished at 17:00.

Wednesday 23rd February Morning walk of 6 miles. 09:45 start from Yelvertoft, outside The Knightley Arms PH SP 600754. Please park considerately in the village. Optional pub lunch after the walk (food normally available); no own food. Walking via Elkington and Winwick. Roger & Pam Tyler. The official walk was cancelled because of the threatened snow, which turned out to be not very severe, so the eight who turned up did their own walk.

Our own food is OK in the pub. Mostly fields with some stiles. Afternoon start 13:15. Morning via Grendon and Easton Maudit; afternoon via Wollaston. Brian Welch. 4 at CS. 18 walkers in the morning, which was 7 miles, and all 18 in the pub. 20 walkers did the afternoon, which was indeed 6 miles. Finished at 15:40.

PEAK DISTRICT walk takes in the western approaches to Kinder Scout & Lantern Dike of a moderate 10 miles. Depart from the UGC Cinema Car Park, Sixfields, Northampton at 07:00 for a walk starting from the public car park at Hayfield. Bring full wet weather clothing, packed lunch and drinks. Maximum car sharing. David Craddock. 8 walkers in 2 cars. It was such a nice day that they decided to do an extra 4 miles, getting back at about 20:00.

Figure-of-8 walk of mainly easy walking totaling 14 miles. Morning 8 miles, afternoon 6 miles. 09:15 start from Greatworth Sports & Social Club SP 551425. Park at the rear of the club, where own food is OK inside at lunch time.
Afternoon start time 13:45. Taking in Sulgrave, Culworth, Thorpe Mandeville and Farthinghoe villages. Alan & Joan Watts. The club was opened up for us to use the toilets before we started. 20 walkers and a dog completed the morning, which was actually 9¼ miles and finished at 12:50! The leader said that this was because we used the headland around two fields instead of ploughing through the plough. (Huh!). There were 16 of us in the club. 16 walkers did the afternoon, which started at 13:45. 14 did all day.

Walking via Thorpe Mandeville and Wardington. No dogs please. Christine Edwards. 7 walkers. Some rain in the morning. 5 in the very welcoming pub, of whom one bought a meal. Finished at 15:30.

Gill Howe. 31 walkers. Morning via Welton and Ashby St. Ledgers. Welcoming pub, but we were only allowed 45 minutes! Afternoon following the canal over the Braunston Tunnel, and entering Norton via a stewardship scheme. Finished at 15:00.
